KRISTI D. TALLY, OWNER, KD7 ENTERPRISES, INC.

My entrepreneurial story began as a result of a job transition, a tremendous amount of preparation and oh yes-a dream …

KD7 is a HUBZone certified community engagement consulting company.  What that often looks like is that entities, large and small, connect with KD7 when they have a need to better engage a particular constituency or stakeholder group-galvanizing the stakeholders around a shared community building vision or agenda. Both within my company and throughout the course of my professional career, I am noted for finding common ground among diverse perspectives, particularly through accessing wide-ranging networks.

I am an accomplished solopreneur.  My company, KD7 Enterprises, Inc., is a representation of the fullness of who I am.  As a native of the strong, culture-rich Southeast Raleigh, NC, I learned to be a natural community builder.  Likewise, from observing the entrepreneurs in my family, church and community down through the years, I’ve learned to employ an entrepreneurial spirit within the culture of my business and with the implementation of each project.  While a large part of my work is contextual, from my professional training as an educator, I have an innate ability to identify the lay of the land quickly, understand the ecosystem, connect the dots and help an organization amplify their own mission and ultimately strengthen their impact through the implementation of customized education-focused projects.

Additionally, I have a passion to serve other individuals and organizations by providing them the tools they need for success and facilitating pathways for enhancing their service.   This enthusiasm has guided me through both my personal and professional lives which have oftentimes become intertwined.  My personal life informs and enriches my professional life and I draw wisdom from every experience to enhance the business value add that I bring to my clients.  Case in point, being an entrepreneur provides a platform for service that often effects community.  What that looks like most times in my business is the opportunity for me to participate in issue-based, strategically impactful Board service opportunities.  During the course of my terms, I give voice to critical issues and liaise to marshal resources back into my community.  Several key Board areas on which I served include voting and elections, entrepreneurship, small business, faith based, early childhood education and fair housing.

I am adept with problem solving and motivated by my “why” which is that we should live in an inclusive society that respects the voices of everyone, particularly those who are marginalized and not fully engaged in decision making spaces.

I lead with empathy, compassion, creativity and strategic decision-making.  This combination is my superpower and my secret sauce for success.

What’s important to me as I engage with clients is that each project is customized, impact-oriented and deeply resonate with the key stakeholders.  It’s critical that stakeholders recognize that their interest is foremost.  Upon project completion—having access to the essential resources--each stakeholder should feel an equitable sense of engagement, the organization should see the value created and the company should be elevated. My personal and professional mission is to leave every organization and individual I engage with a bit better than how I found them.
